How Does Learning Happen?

Our Guiding Framework

At Tiny Bumblebees Child Care, we follow “How Does Learning Happen?” — Ontario’s official framework for early learning. It’s all about helping children grow through caring relationships, play, exploration, and meaningful connections with the world around them.

This approach is based on four key foundations that support every child’s learning and well-being:

Belonging

Children feel a sense of belonging when they are connected to others and feel valued. At Tiny Bumblebees, we create an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child feels seen, heard, and part of a community. We help children build strong, caring relationships with their educators and peers, fostering trust and emotional security.

Well-Being

Well-being includes physical and mental health, safety, and developing self-care and self-regulation skills. We support children’s overall wellness through healthy routines, outdoor play, nutritious meals, and nurturing relationships. We also help children learn how to understand and manage their feelings, setting the stage for emotional resilience and confidence.

Engagement

Engaged children are curious, interested, and focused.
We encourage children to explore the world around them through play, hands-on activities, and meaningful learning experiences. Our educators follow children’s interests and questions to design engaging opportunities that build creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Expression

Children express themselves in many ways through words, movement, art, music, and play. We provide a rich variety of materials, tools, and opportunities for children to communicate their ideas and emotions. We listen with intention and support each child in developing their voice, both verbally and non-verbally.
